Doing It Yourself
A steel sectional panel from a 2001-build door is not a bad DIY candidate compared to older wood-panel doors, since the section bolts to its neighbors and to the end hinges rather than being nailed or glued into a frame. That said, the door still has to come apart with the torsion spring under tension, and pulling the wrong hardware first is how people end up in the ER, not just frustrated. If you're handy and the damage is cosmetic - a dent from a bumper tap, not a bowed track - a bottom panel swap on a single-car door is within reach for someone comfortable with a ratchet and a level. Anything involving the spring, the top section near the opener bracket, or a double-wide door is where we'd tell you to call rather than improvise. We'd rather talk you out of a job that doesn't need us than sell you one.
Time on the Job
Because Verona sits about 9 miles from our Madison base, we build the drive into the appointment window rather than pretending we're already around the corner. Once we're on site, a single panel swap on a 2001-era steel door usually runs under two hours if the section is in stock and matches the existing profile. Multi-panel jobs, or anything where we're color-matching an aged run, take longer because we're fitting and adjusting each section against its neighbors rather than dropping in one piece. We don't promise a same-day fix here - that depends on whether the panel is a common profile we already carry or one we need to order. We'll tell you which one it is before we quote a date, not after.
What Is on the Truck
We stock common steel panel profiles and standard torsion hardware sized for the kind of doors that went up across this area through the 1980s, 90s, and into the early 2000s - which covers most of what we find on a Verona service call. What we don't carry is every discontinued color and embossment pattern; if your door's panel run was a limited manufacturer run from its build year, we may need to order the match rather than pull it off the truck. We'd rather tell you that up front than mismatch a panel and have you stare at it every time you pull in.
